Does insurance cover a tummy tuck?
Insurance companies generally do not cover cosmetic surgery that’s done without a medical reason. Yours might if you have a hernia that will be corrected through the procedure.
Before you decide whether to get a tummy tuck, contact your insurance company so you’re clear on what’s covered and what’s not. If you think you can make a case that you need the procedure for medical reasons, your surgeon may be able to help you by writing a letter to your insurer.
How can I get a tummy tuck?
This is the question that you may be asking if you are considering abdominal contouring. Well, tummy tuck involves major surgery and is therefore done under general anesthesia. This means you will be pain-free throughout the operation. With the help of my qualified staff at Body by Bloch, we ensure maximum safety and focus on desirable results. Surgery begins with an extensive incision from hipbone to bone just below your navel. It is through this incision that we get to excise unwanted flabby skin and fat. We tighten any lax muscles by bringing them together and tightening them with sutures. Sometimes we will use liposuction in conjunction with surgery to treat some of my patients. This will, however, depend on your condition. After the procedure, we place tiny drainage tubes around your surgical site before closing it with stitches. If you have massive flabby skin to lose, we will most probably relocate your belly button.
A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program.
Although the results of a tummy tuck are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. For this reason, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies would be advised to postpone a tummy tuck.

Other medications that we prescribe to our patients include antibiotics to prevent infection in the surgical site or in the immune system. You need home rest for about a month for good results. As an experienced plastic surgeon, Dr. Bloch will discourage any strenuous activities for the next six weeks following surgery. We will also give you instructions on how to care to for drains, dressings, and the surgical site. You need to observe all the return visits we schedule. We will likely remove your dressings and drains in your first visit. It may take several months to see your final results, but you will admire your new look. The incision scar will be permanent but will remain hidden in clothes.
