Improving the appearance of forehead lines, frown lines and drooping eyebrows can take years off your face. That is achieved through a surgical procedure known as a forehead lift. It usually targets the upper third of your face to get rid of the aging signs. Only a well trained and experienced plastic surgeon should perform the procedure to help you realize your goals. Dr. Bloch is a plastic surgeon with an experience of 30 years and is expert you can consider for your Chicago forehead lift surgery. At www.bodybybloch.com, you can request your Chicago forehead lift consultation to know what results you can expect. If you are a good candidate, the surgery can help you achieve your goals in looking young once again.
The forehead lift surgery is usually performed with the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. Dr. Bloch will recommend the best choice for you. There are also two possible types of forehead lifts, the open or classic forehead lift and the endoscopic lift. For the classic forehead lift, the surgeon makes a long incision running along your forehead but across the scalp from one ear to the other. The exact position of the incision will depend on your hairline’s position and the condition of the muscles on your face that will need removal or reshaping. You may need a coronal incision made behind your hairline, pretrichial incision with its central part directly on your hairline, or a midforehead incision inside a very deep crease especially if you are a man. The surgeon will lift the forehead skin to remove or reshape the facial muscles as needed. Excess skin is usually trimmed away along the incision which is then closed with stitches, staples or adhesives before dressings are applied.
If the endoscopic lift is to be performed, the surgeon will only make up to five small incisions behind your hairline. An endoscope will be inserted through one incision while through the other incisions are inserted instruments used to remove or reshape facial tissue and muscles. The endoscopic lift incisions are closed and may be dressed in the same manner as after a classic forehead lift.
Before you leave the hospital, Dr. Bloch will give you any specific instructions you need to follow for faster recovery. Medications for pain relief or to reduce risk of infection will be prescribed.
The purpose of a forehead lift is improvement of the patient’s external appearance, particularly with regard to the upper third of the face. Some people have clearly marked frown lines or drooping of the eyebrows or eyelid caused by loosening of the tissues and muscles around the eyes during the aging process. The drooping of the eyelid is sometimes referred to as ptosis, which comes from a Greek word meaning “fall.” In some cases, these signs of aging make the person look angry, anxious, or sad. A forehead lift is not done to cure disease or repair a major wound or injury.
Also known as forehead lift or browplasty
A brow lift or forehead lift reverses the effects of gravity and tightens the soft tissues of the forehead to restore a more youthful contour to your forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. There are various brow-lift methods, which involve different length incisions in different locations and, sometimes, an endoscope. A youthful brow at rest is positioned above the orbital rim, with a gradual arch laterally, and the lateral end or ‘tail’ of the brow located higher than the medial end. As one ages, it is common for the brow to assume a flat or horizontal position. If a sagging brow inhibits your facial expression, a brow lift is a time-tested method for rejuvenating the upper third of your face. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful brow-lift surgery and are pleased with the results.
