Body Lift – Improve Skin Sagginess For A Sleek Profile

Body Lift – Improve Skin Sagginess For A Sleek Profile

A body lift is one of the many cosmetic procedures that we perform at Body by Bloch. This cosmetic surgery is recommended for individuals with excess sagging skin and fat. Common factors that contribute to sagging skin include massive weight loss, pregnancy, aging and genetic factors. If you have cellulite, we can as well surgically correct it with the procedure in our fine facility. Areas of correction improved by body lift include the abdominal area, buttocks, thighs and groin areas. In the procedure, we excise extra sagging skin and fat to create a sleek profile that is appealing and one that allows you to live a comfortable life. Visit our site to book for an appointment on www.bodybybloch.com.

Considerations

Pros

  • Loose skin will be removed and your contour sculpted, so you can see the results of your weight loss.
  • You will experience the improved self-esteem that comes from looking better.
  • You will get rid of overhanging skin that may cause painful chafing, rashes and infections.

Cons

  • This is a demanding surgical procedure with a lengthy recovery.
  • You will probably need one to three days of hospitalization or skilled nursing care at home.
  • You will have a scar that will be hidden in the bikini line.

These are the top three pros and cons to weigh when considering a lower body lift. If you want to focus on those specifically unique to you, please consult with your aesthetic plastic surgeon.

Do I qualify for a Body lift?

Body by Bloch is an accredited surgical facility and patient safety comes first in our practice. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I will only consider you for the cosmetic surgery if:

  • You are in general good health
  • You don’t smoke
  • You have skin sagginess in one or many areas
  • You are committed to living a healthy lifestyle by observing regular exercise and proper nutrition
  • You have realistic expectations and a positive attitude towards body lift surgery

What is the procedure for a body lift?

When you visit us for a body lift, one of my nurses will take you to the operation room. Here, we will give you general anesthesia for your comfort and relaxation throughout the procedure. Next, I will make incisions based on the areas you want corrected, For instance, if you want to improve sagginess on your abdomen, waist, groin, thighs and buttocks, I can easily perform all these in one procedure. For this general correction, I will make a circumferential incision around your body to remove the extra skin apron and fat through surgery and liposuctions. I will then reposition the underlying tissues. Next, I will use deep sutures to support your underlying tissues before closing skin incisions with stitches, sutures, tapes, skin adhesives or clips. We will also place drains to remove accumulating fluids around your incisions and dress your incisions with bandages and compression garments. You may have an overnight stay with us under the care of a nurse or go home with the help of someone of your condition is stable.

BODY LIFT RECOVERY

During your body lift surgery recovery, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions after the procedure is complete. Small, thin tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood that may collect.

You will be given specific instructions that may include how to care for your surgical site(s) following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, how to care for your drains, and when to follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Be sure to ask your body lift surgeon specific questions about what you can expect during your individual recovery period:

  • Where will I be taken after my surgery is complete?
  • What medication will I be given or prescribed after surgery?
  • Will I have dressings/bandages after surgery?
  • When will they be removed?
  • How should I bathe after surgery?
  • Are stitches removed? When?
  • When will the drains be removed?
  • When can I resume normal activity and exercise?
  • When do I return for follow-up care?
