Butt Lift in the Chicagoland Area – Get Shapely Buttocks in Proportion to Your Body

Butt lift also known as buttock or butt augmentation is the increment of buttocks using implants or your own fatty tissue. When the augmentation uses natural fat, it is commonly referred to as the “Brazilian butt lift”. This procedure can suit you if your buttocks are sagging, flat or have a distorted shape due to massive weight loss. A successful surgery will give you a perkier round butt that balances with your figure. Most individuals who have successfully had the cosmetic procedure have improved self-esteem and self-image. A plastic surgeon with board- certification should perform the procedure for you. Dr. Bloch is a world-class plastic surgeon from Chicago who performs cosmetic plastic surgery at his facility Body by Bloch. You can book a consultation by calling our office or going to www.bodybybloch.com.

Preparing for buttock augmentation surgery

Prior to buttock augmentation surgery, you may be asked to:

    • Get a blood test
    • Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
    • Stop smoking
    • Avoid taking aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs as they can increase bleeding

Buttock augmentation surgery may be performed in an accredited outpatient or ambulatory surgical center or a hospital. Be sure to arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night following surgery.

How is butt lift performed?

Plastic surgeons use different methods in performing butt lift. Dr. Bloch will recommend an option that suits your aesthetic goals and body contour. The most popular methods used for fat transfer include fat transfer method commonly known as the Brazilian butt lift and implant surgery which may be performed with or without fat transfer for extra contouring.

Fat transfer

This method uses fat taken from your body to reshape your butt. Local anesthesia is administered on area of fat donation. Liposuction that uses cannulas to remove fat is then used on your thighs, abdomen, back or hips which will be contoured after fat removal. Next, fat is processed and re-injected in your butt with syringes through tiny injections. Augmented areas are massaged for fat distribution and incisions closed with sutures. Drains will be placed before dressings are placed.

Butt implants

These are silicone materials used to modify flat or distorted buttocks especially after massive weight loss. The implant is inserted through an incision made in the buttock crease. The implant is then settled in a pocket below the gluteal muscle. Incisions are then closed with sutures, drains are inserted and a compression garment used to wrap your butt.

How is butt lift recovery?

Dr. Bloch will give you pain medication and antibiotics on your discharge day. Other instructions to be followed during recovery include:

  • Wearing a compression garment throughout in the first 2 weeks
  • Avoid sitting on your buttocks for 3 weeks
  • Abstaining from activities until 4 weeks
  • Observing follow-up visits as directed.

Limitations and risks

Fortunately, significant complications from buttock-lift surgery are infrequent. Your specific risks will be discussed during your consultation.

All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Some of the potential complications of all surgeries are:

    • Adverse reaction to anesthesia
    • Hematoma or seroma (an accumulation of blood or fluid under the skin that may require removal)
    • Infection and bleeding
    • Changes in sensation
    • Scarring
    • Allergic reactions
    • Damage to underlying structures
    • Unsatisfactory results that may necessitate additional procedures

You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your board-certified plastic surgeon, both before and after your buttock-lift surgery.
