Laser Genesis in Chicago Metro Area– Get a Vibrant and Healthy Skin Non-surgically

If you are bothered by facial blemishes, enlarged pores and aging signs, laser Genesis can help rejuvenate your skin. This is a non-surgical skin treatment that targets the face, neck and chest. This treatment uses mild laser beams to treat wrinkles, fine lines, rosacea condition, acne scarring, excess redness and uneven texture. The procedure uses no anesthesia and can be used for men and women of all skin types. Treatment of the face takes less than an hour. If you are thinking of having Laser Genesis, it is good to consult with a certified dermatologist or physician. If you are in the Chicago area, schedule a consultation with Skin Deep Medical at www.skindeepmedicalspa.com .

Preparing for laser resurfacing

Start by consulting a plastic surgeon or dermatologist to find out if you’re a good candidate.

Tell your doctor if you get cold sores or feverblisters around your mouth. Laser skin resurfacing can trigger breakouts in people who are at risk.

If you decide to go ahead with laser skin resurfacing, your doctor will ask you to not take any medications or supplements — such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamin E — that can affect clotting for 10 days before surgery.

If you smoke, you should stop for two weeks before and after the procedure. Smoking can prolong healing.

Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic medication beforehand to prevent bacterial infections and also an antiviral medication if you are prone to cold soresor fever blisters.

What happens during Laser Genesis treatment?

A Laser Genesis treatment takes place while you are lying on bed. You may sleep during the procedure. Laser beam is directed on your face to gently heat the dermis. The light does not damage your skin. The gentle heat tightens wrinkles, shrinks enlarged pores and smoothes uneven skin, corrects diffuse redness and other skin blemishes. During the treatment, you will experience a comforting warm sensation and mild tingling. The warm sensation will continue after treatment for about 30 minutes and facial firmness will increase in the first day of treatment.

What results can I expect?

Laser Genesis has no downtime; you can resume work almost immediately. Your face will have a healthy soft glow after treatment. If you are having laser treatment at Skin Deep Medical Spa, you will be given post-treatment instructions which include avoiding excess sunlight and using sunscreen. Consuming plenty of water is also recommended to hydrate your skin. You may be advised to have several treatment sessions which may be spaced 1 to 4 weeks apart. Results will however be visible after the first treatment but continued treatment will improve your look. Laser Genesis benefits can last for a year. Aging will however crop in normally but good skin care can prolong your results.

To achieve an optimum look, follow these steps as part of your recovery:

    • Clean the treated areas two to five times a day with saline or a diluted vinegar solution as directed by your plastic surgeon.
    • Apply protective skin care treatments that are recommended by your doctor to help your skin heal.
    • After healing, you’ll need to use sunscreen, particularly one that’s formulated for the sensitive, rejuvenated skin on your face. Every day. No exceptions! Your plastic surgeon will help you select the correct type of sunscreen to best protect your treated areas.
    • If directed to do so by your plastic surgeon, use a liberal amount of moisturizer each day on your new skin.

You can expect that the treated area will peel. After that, the new, rejuvenated skin will be pink, but it will gradually lighten over two to three months. It may take up to a year for the pinkness to go away. It is very important to protect your skin during this time of healing. Redness tends to last longer in blondes and redheads.

You may resume application of Retin-A and/or glycolic acid products around six weeks after laser resurfacing or as directed by your physician.
