Microdermabrasion – Exfoliate Your Skin Non-invasively For A Youthful Glow

Microdermabrasion or Microderm is one of the non-surgical skin treatments we offer at Skin Deep Medical Spa for treatment of superficial skin imperfections such as sun spots, fine lines, dullness, acne scars, or scars from injury or accidents. The skin treatment does not however address congenital skin defects, moles or scars from burns. Microderm exfoliates the top skin layer that stimulates collagen production for a healthier, smoother and youthful skin. The treatment is suitable for people of all skin types and has no downtime. Skin care products like moisturizers, lotions and creams will easily be absorbed after the treatment therefore maintaining an improved look.

Who is not a candidate for microdermabrasion?

Patients with any of the following conditions may not be good candidates for microdermabrasion:

  • Active rosacea
  • Fragile capillaries or vascular lesions
  • Active onset acne
  • Warts
  • Open sore
  • Psoriasis
  • Lupus
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Susceptibility to cold sores (unless treated with antiviral therapy by the doctor)

How is the Microdermabrasion procedure?

Microdermabrasion is gentle on the skin. No anesthesia is needed for this treatment. At our spa, we perform this procedure by using Diamond-Tip Microdermabrasion or Crystal Microdermabrasion.

Diamond-Tip microdermabrasion – With this treatment, we normally use a diamond-tip handheld device that gently scrapes off dead skin cells. The same device suctions off the skin debris. We normally use this technique for sensitive skin or delicate areas.

Crystal Microdermabrasion – one of our skin care technicians, will administer this treatment using a hand-held device that emits tiny crystals on your skin surface which creates a gentle polishing action. The abrasion loosens dead skin layers. The same hand-piece suctions off the crystals along with the dead skin cells.

After the treatment, your physician will apply a moisturizer to hydrate your skin and give you post-treatment instructions to follow.

What should I expect after Microdermabrasion?

You will notice a healthy glow on your treated skin after a few days. For optimal results, we recommend 5 to 12 Microdermabrasion treatments at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks.

Visit us for Microdermabrasion consultation. On your consultation, we will review your medical history, examine your face, listen to your expectations, and discuss the potential risks as well as the outcomes of the procedure. Book an appointment at our site on www.skindeepmedicalspa.com.
