Reshape Your Chin Through Augmentation…

chin augmentation is one of the cosmetic surgical procedures you might want to consider for a better looking chin that can make you feel more confident. The procedure is increasingly becoming popular especially with people pursuing certain careers where facial looks matter. Use of technologies like online video chats where facial profiles can influence perception is one of the reasons some people might be willing to undergo chin surgery for augmentation. Whatever your reason is for considering the procedure, you will need to find an expert plastic surgeon with proven credentials. You can book an appointment with Dr. Bloch online at www.bodybybloch.com. The board certified plastic surgeon in Chicago has an experience of more than 25 years. During your consultation with the doctor, you will be properly examined including the use of x-rays to determine how your surgery should be performed if you are a good candidate.

How is the procedure performed?

Chin augmentation is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. Dr. Bloch can either perform the procedure using an implant or may need to move the jaw bones that can even produce more dramatic results. The best option is agreed at the consultation stage. If using an implant, the surgeon will either make a cut inside your mouth or even outside under your chin. That will allow access between your chin muscles and the chin bone where the implant is inserted, and then the incisions are properly closed. If adjusting then jaw bones, the surgeon will also need to make a cut inside your mouth. After accessing the chin bone, a bone saw will be used to cut the jaw bone that is moved to a new position and secured with screws or wires.

How is the recovery?

After your surgery, Dr. Bloch will give you the specific instructions that you should carefully follow to achieve faster recovery. You can expect pain, but that can be managed well with prescribed medication. For the first 1 or 2 days, you may have to stick to liquids or a very soft diet. Light activities can be resumed in a day after surgery, but normal work activities may wait for ten days. The surgical technique used will also determine your recovery timeframe. Any bandages applied may be removed within a week.
