Restore Droopy Breasts Through a Breast Lift Chicago Surgery

Restore Droopy Breasts Through a Breast Lift Chicago Surgery

If your breasts are extremely saggy, a breast lift or mastopexy surgery could be helpful for you. This is cosmetic surgery that raises the breasts to the chest level. Excess skin is excised and surrounding loose tissue tightened with sutures for support and restoration of a youthful contour. Mastopexy is done under general anesthesia and takes about 3 hours; there is no overnight stay in the hospital unless you develop postoperative complications. Full recovery will be achieved at home. This breast surgery has possible risks and complications and should, therefore, be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon to minimize the chances of risks. Having the surgery in an accredited facility like Body by Bloch in the Chicago metro area is also important.

Your treatment plan

Based on your goals, physical characteristics and the surgeon’s training and experience, your surgeon will share recommendations and information with you, including:

    • An approach to your surgery, including the type of procedure or combination of procedures.
    • The outcomes that you can anticipate.
    • Your financial investment in the procedure.
    • Associated risks and complications.
    • Options for anesthesia and surgery location.
    • What you need to do to prepare for the surgery.
    • What you can expect to experience after surgery.
    • Show before-and-after photos of cases similar to yours and answer any questions.

How will I get a breast lift?

Before mastopexy begins, your surgeon will mark the area where your nipple will go. You will then be given general anesthesia to eliminate any pain during surgery. Overstretched loose skin is then removed by excision. Nipple and breast tissue are then moved to their proper location and sutured for support. If you need breast implants, Dr. Bloch will insert them before closing your incisions with stitches. Tiny drains to keep you’re surgical free of fluids will also be inserted and will be removed after 24 to 48 hours. Your breasts will then be dressed in bandages. You will then be discharged to go home after anesthesia wears off with the help of someone. Postoperative care instructions will also be issued.

Breast lift candidates

You may be a good breast lift candidate if:

    • You are physically healthy and maintain a stable weight
    • You do not smoke
    • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts sag or have lost shape and volume
    • Your breasts have a flatter, elongated shape or are pendulous
    • When unsupported, your nipples fall below the breast crease
    • Your nipples and areolas point downward
    • You have stretched skin and enlarged areolas
    • One breast is lower than the other

Breast lift surgery is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image.

Is there any risk with mastopexy?

There are potential risks associated with breast lift which Dr. Bloch will discuss with you during your consultation. Some of these complications include:

  • Anesthesia risks
  • Infection
  • Bleeding
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Poor healing of incisions
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Changes in nipple sensation
  • Partial or total loss of areola and nipple
  • Possibility of revisional surgery
