Restore The Mid-Face With A Cheek Lift

Restore The Mid-Face With A Cheek Lift

A cheek lift is also called a mid-face lift or mini-facelift and can be used to improve aging signs on your mid-face and the surrounding area. Aging makes the cheeks to sag and flatten but a mid-face lift can surgically improve areas on the lower eyelid and the upper cheeks; treatment that can not be corrected with the traditional facelift. The cosmetic procedure adds volume on the under eyes and on the cheeks by elevating the malar fat pad. Fullness to the cheeks gives you a rejuvenated youthful look. A qualified plastic surgeon with extensive knowledge on facial anatomy can perform the procedure for you. The renowned Chicago plastic surgeon Dr. Bloch can perform the cosmetic surgery for you. Cheek lift results are permanent and lasting compared to those of soft tissue or dermal fillers.

  • Evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors
  • Discuss your facelift options
  • Examine and measure your face
  • Take photographs
  • Recommend a course of treatment

Procedure for mid-face lift

Cheek lift is an outpatient procedure normally performed under conscious sedation or general anesthesia. The procedure lasts for about 2 hours. After sedation or anesthesia has taken effect, your surgeon will make minimal incisions around your hairline and ear. These incisions make way for needles that will be used to make sutures on the cheek fat pad or the malar fat pad. The fat pad is pulled up and sutured in its original place. The new elevation of the cheek pad tones the cheekbones and also reduces any nasolabial folds around your mouth. The correction gives you a new facial contour notable after a few days. Cheek lift has newer technologies and use of endoscopic cameras is just one of the latest advancements used in restoring your mid-face zone.

Mid-face recovery

You can walk after anesthesia wears off but you need the help of someone to drive you home from the hospital. Swelling and bruising will much be prevalent around incision sites in the initial 24 to 48 hours but can be eased with ice wrapped in a damp cloth. Pain killers may also help. Antibiotic drugs will be prescribed to prevent chances of infection attacks on treated areas. You need to sleep with your head elevated and avoid strenuous activities in the first few days of recovery. After 10 days, you can resume work and perform your regular activities. After this period, your cheek will have resumed its normal elevation and reveal a natural new look. You however have to keep up with your follow up visits to ensure good results. Dr. Bloch will advise you to eat healthy diets and stay away from direct sunlight to maintain your good results.
