Rhinoplasty Chicago Surgery– Improve Your Nose Shape Surgically

Rhinoplasty is also known as nose surgery. This surgery is mainly done for cosmetic reasons for patients wishing to improve their nose proportions in relation to other facial features. Nose surgery can also be done to improve breathing difficulties. The cosmetic surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia or local anesthesia. A board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Bloch from the Chicago metro area can give you the surgery. Call Body by Bloch to book a consultation at 847-432-0840 or you can fill the form out at www.bodybybloch.com.

Rhinoplasty candidates

You may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty if:

    • Your facial growth is complete
    • You are physically healthy
    • You don’t smoke
    • You have a positive outlook and realistic goals in mind for the improvement of your appearance

What can I expect during rhinoplasty?

Before the nose surgery begins, you will be given general anesthesia. Incisions will then be made to access the cartilage and bones that offer nose support. Dr. Bloch will make incisions inside your nose to minimize scarring. Depending on your desired outcome, your surgeon may remove some bone or cartilage. Tissue may also be added from another part of your body. Cartilage and bone are then reshaped before skin is draped over the nose and closed with incisions. You may have packing inside your nose and tiny tubes placed to help you breathe. A splint is also placed on the nose to give support to the new nose contour as it heals.

How well it works

The results of rhinoplasty may be minor or significant, depending on what kind of correction you want. It is important that you and your plastic surgeon agree on the goals of the surgery. If your expectations are realistic and your plastic surgeon shares them, he or she will probably be able to give you the results you want.

The results of rhinoplasty are permanent, although subsequent injury or other factors can alter the nose’s appearance. Cosmetic surgery should only be done on a fully developed nose. Complete development has usually occurred by age 15 or 16 in females and by age 17 or 18 in males. If the surgery is done before this time, continued development of the nose can alter the surgical results and possibly cause complications.

What are rhinoplasty risks?

After rhinoplasty surgery, you may experience some potential complications which include:

  • Anesthesia risks
  • Pain
  • Bruising and swelling
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Nasal blockage from swelling inside the nose
  • Skin irritation from bandaging and tape
  • Skin necrosis

These risks will be discussed with you during your consultation meeting.
