Tired Of Drooping? Get A Lift!

Tired Of Drooping? Get A Lift!

You can consider getting a breast lift or mastopexy if your breasts are droopy. This is a cosmetic surgery that elevates breasts to a more youthful level on the chest. Loss of skin elasticity due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding and weight loss contribute to sagging breasts that can easily be corrected through surgery under general anesthesia. Mastopexy involves making at least three incisions on your breasts which allows removal of extra skin and elevation of breasts to the chest level. In the procedure, the position of the areola and nipple may also be changed. After the surgery, tiny temporary drains will be placed in your breasts to remove accumulating fluids. Your breasts will then be dressed with bandages. At Body by Bloch, you can have a breast lift performed by Dr. Bloch, a board-certified plastic surgeon located in Chicago. We can perform breast augmentation together with a breast lift if you also wish to increase your breast size.

What happens after a breast lift?

After surgery, we will take you to our recovery room. Once you are up and stable, we will prescribe pain medication, antibiotics and give you instructions to observe when recovering at home. Instructions to observe include wearing a surgical bra for several weeks to support your breasts. You need to stay away from strenuous work for at least six weeks. We will remove your drainage tubes after about 2 to 3 days. Your stitches will be removed within ten days, and we will also check how you are healing. Full recovery of your breasts will be after about three months. Scars will flatten up but will not disappear permanently. This should however not worry you as incisions are made under your breast curve and are concealed under your bikini wear.

It’s important to understand that normal aging, changes in body weight and pregnancy may make your breasts sag. We, therefore, advise our breast lift patients to complete child bearing and maintain a stable weight for good results.

What are breast lift risks?

Mastopexy has potential risks which include:

  • Reactions to anesthesia
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Breast asymmetry
  • Loss of nipple sensation
  • Inability to breastfeed
  • Prolonged healing of scars

Having a board-certified plastic surgeon perform your breast lift will reduce most of these risks. To schedule a consultation you can go to www.bodybybloch.com or call us at 847-432-0840.
